The concept of looking beautiful has gotten so ingrained in our life that it is almost impossible to find a single soul who does not pine for a beautiful and healthy skin. I have a few tried and tested tips and tricks up my sleeves to achieve the skin you are after, read on for them. And trust me, I know, after tackling acne throughout my teenage.
- Ice magic: Applying ice on face after cleansing is a good way to tone skin, reduce enlarged pores and sooth skin. The cooling effect of ice is the key here. I use ice on my face for every imaginable thing- right after coming home from a long exhausting day as a pick me up to reducing the inflammation and redness of the occasional pimples sprouting here and there. Ice is this magical little thing which always does the trick for me. If plain ice gets too boring, I notch up the game a bit by freezing green tea or herbal teas into ice and rubbing it on my face.
- Keep scalp clean: I do not know why this tip is not spread around much but this is what makes a big difference, especially when have long hair which you keep untied and which comes in contact with your facial skin all the time. Sweat, dust and oil all tend to accumulate in the strands of one's hair, especially in a hot and humid city like Mumbai. Now these hair strands coming into contact with you squeaky cleansed facial skin is bound to contaminate it. Now you know why even after doing everything possible you still end up with that occasional zit on your face. So make it a point of keep your hair clean by using a good quality shampoo or even home remedies like curd, etc.
- Lemon for zits: I do not understand the science behind it but lemon zits seems to help me erase the zits from my face. This, I discovered, after I applied it all over my face on recommendation of my close friend, who raved about the fact that it helps to reduce tan. In just two applications, my acne started drying out and in sometime, vanished! Also, the mark acne leaves behind generally was also very light. One can apply lemon juice all over after cleansing and toning before bed, leave it all night and wash it off in the morning. Apart from a bit of stickiness, it is a no fuss solution to combating acne and lightning tan.
- Besan scrub: This is my mother's secret to smooth and glowing skin. She religiously applies this scrub every week for that lovely skin she has even at the age of 45 years. I adopted this practice over a year ago when I had run out of my commercial scrub. I tried and I have never looked back. Apart from being extremely cost effective, this scrub smells amazing too! All you need is a bit of Besan (that is, gram flour), rose water or lemon juice, and turmeric. Viola!
- Reduce your caffeine intake: The regular does of tea and coffee is doing you no good. Infact, the caffeine from these beverages have an adverse impact and harm the appearance of your skin. Caffeine makes your skin look blotchy, dehydrated and sallow. So do your skin a favour and swap those caffeinated drinks with herbal infusions, if you crave a hot cup of something in these rainy days.
